Kayla Weaver is in her third season with the San Jacinto College women’s basketball program and her first as head coach.

Last season was record-setting for the San Jacinto College women’s basketball program. As an assistant coach, Weaver helped guide the team to an overall record of 24-9 and the team’s first-ever appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament. Under her leadership sophomore guard/forward Ariona Gill signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), sophomore forward Jasmine James signed a NLI with the The University of Memphis and Amieya Jackson signed a National Letter of Intent with Arkansas Tech University.

During the 2015-2016 season, Weaver served as a volunteer assistant coach, helping to guide the team to a 22-11 regular season record as the Region XIV tournament runner-up.

Weaver was a standout player for the Panola College Fillies, garnering First Team All-Conference, Region XIV First Team, and Region XIV Academic First Team honors. During her college playing career at Texas Woman’s University (TWU), Weaver was a member of the 2010-11 Lone Star Conference champions, garnering All-LSC First Team honors as well as being named 2010-11 Tournament MVP.

After graduation she served as an assistant coach at Panola, and then as an assistant coach at the University of Texas at Tyler. In her tenure at UT Tyler, the Patriots were American Southwest Conference regular season champions and advanced to the second round in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament, finishing with a 27-3 record.

Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree from TWU with a major in mathematics and a minor in education. She also holds a master’s degree from TWU in kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching.
