PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College’s KidSpot summer youth theatre camp will culminate with performances of the lively musical show “The Jungle Book Kids.”

The first production will take place Friday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m., and the second performance will be Friday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. Both shows will take place at Slocomb Auditorium, located on the Central campus at 8060 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena. Admission to “The Jungle Book” is $10 per person.

Performers in the two shows include young people from 4 to 18 years old who have participated in classes and workshops taught by theater instructors and San Jacinto College students as part of the KidSpot summer camp, which is open to local residents.

The Jungle Book Kids” is a Walt Disney musical adaptation of English author Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel “The Jungle Book.” In the story, a baby boy, lost and abandoned, is raised by wolves and given the name Mowgli. Shere Kahn, the tiger, decides that Mowgli is no longer welcome in the jungle. To keep him out of danger, Bagheera, the panther, plans to guide Mowgli to the safety of the man village, but Mowgli doesn’t want to leave his jungle home.

The play includes plenty of adventure and clever songs as Mowgli encounters Kaa the Snake, an elephant herd, Baloo the Bear, sneaky monkeys, and Shanti, a beautiful young girl.

San Jacinto College offers theatre courses and degree programs at the South and Central campuses. The Central Campus also offers a video and film production program. For more information, please visit
