Assistant Coach Kayla Weaver is in her second season with the San Jacinto College women’s basketball program. She served last season as a volunteer assistant coach, helping to guide the team to a 22-11 regular season record, and to a record-setting playoff finish as the Region XIV tournament runner-up.
Weaver was a standout player for the Panola College Fillies, garnering First Team All-Conference, Region XIV First Team, and Region XIV Academic First Team honors. During her college playing career at Texas Woman’s University (TWU), Weaver was a member of the 2010-11 Lone Star Conference champions, garnering All-LSC First Team honors as well as being named 2010-11 Tournament MVP.
After graduation, she served as an assistant coach at Panola, and then as an assistant coach at the University of Texas at Tyler. In her tenure at UT Tyler, the Patriots were American Southwest Conference regular season champions and advanced to the second round in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament, finishing with a 27-3 record.
Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree from TWU with a major in mathematics and a minor in education. She also holds a master’s degree from TWU in kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching.
