Community Education Center opens to the public

The Center will host workshops and provide information about college pathways and resources

PASADENA, Texas – The San Jacinto College Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) division is opening the Community Education Center for anyone who would like to learn more about college resources and opportunities. 

Located at the San Jacinto College Central Campus, C-1.108, the Community Education Center will serve as the go-to place for CPD information regarding educational pathways, grants and financial aid. The Center also will host workshops with outside speakers.

“Our goal is to empower our community through knowledge,” said Dr. Janice Sullivan, dean of community education with the CPD division. “We want to make sure that everyone feels welcomed at our college. From working parents to senior citizens, everyone will find educational activities for fun, wellness, health and lifelong learning.”

The first series of workshops, “Your Health Matters,” will kick off the opening of the Community Education Center on July 7 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Presented by MD Anderson Cancer Center, the “Your Health Matters” series will focus on nutrition, exercise and cancer prevention.

The Community Education Center is open Monday through Thursday from 12 to 6 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All events are free; however, pre-registration is required. To register, call 281-478-2786. The San Jacinto College Central Campus is located at 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena, Texas.
