PVF Roundtable donates $25,000 toward pipefitting scholarships

Students in San Jacinto College’s pipefitting program will benefit from scholarships made possible by the Pipe, Valve, and Fitting (PVF) Roundtable organization.

This year, the directors of the PVF Roundtable allocated $25,000 to the San Jacinto College Foundation to benefit the College’s pipefitting program. The PVF Roundtable is an organization of industry professionals involved in the pipe, valve, and fitting industry. The organization is committed to providing an open dialogue to exchange relevant information and creating awareness of current industry affairs that affect the entire PVF community. In addition, the PVF Roundtable provides funds to educational and training institutes to encourage the growth of the PVF field.

San Jacinto College Foundation Executive Director, Ruth Keenan, and San Jacinto College North Campus Dean of Business and Technology, Dr. Kerry Mix, had a chance to meet with the PVF Roundtable members to discuss industry and training needs. “PVF Roundtable Vice President, Mr. Harold Armstrong, has been instrumental in pulling this together,” said Keenan. “We are sincerely grateful for this donation, and we look forward to the future and deepening the relationship with this organization.”

Armstrong added that due to the College’s commitment to excellence in workforce training, the PVF Roundtable organization wanted to provide more opportunities for future pipe, valve, and fitting professionals. “The PVF Roundtable selected San Jacinto College because of the reputation and success in training students,” said Armstrong. “Consideration for the award included location near the industries we support along with programs that are well established. Our goal is to impact students’ lives through education.”

According to texaswages.com, the average median salary for pipefitters in the Gulf Coast region is $51,325 annually. For more information on the San Jacinto College pipefitting program, visit sanjac.edu/career/pipefitting-fabricator.
