School supply drive to benefit South Belt-Ellington community: San Jacinto College drive ends July 17

The San Jacinto College South Campus is hosting a school supply drive for local students in the South Belt-Ellington community.
Supplies needed in new condition include: No. 2 pencils with erasers, colored pencils, pens (red, blue, and black), zippered pencil pouches, spiral notebooks (regular ruled), notebook paper (regular ruled), composition notebooks, pocket folders with brads (blue, yellow, and red), three-ring binders (one inch and half-inch), clear backpacks, index cards, scissors (blunt and pointed), rulers, Crayola washable markers (set of eight), Crayola crayons (box of 24), dry-erase markers (chisel tipped), glue sticks, facial tissue, and hand sanitizer.
Other items suggested include hygiene products (shampoo, men’s and women’s deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, laundry detergent pods, and small bottles of dish detergent), clothing (socks and underwear, especially in sizes XS and small in boys), Kroger or Target gift cards, and healthy snack items (granola bars, crackers, etc.).
The last day to donate items is Friday, July 17. Donation drop-off locations include the San Jacinto College South Campus Jones Technical Building lobby (Building 13) and the Science and Allied Health Building lobby (Building 1) located at 13735 Beamer Road in Houston; the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce located at 10500 Scarsdale Blvd., in Houston; the Harris County Clerk’s Office - South Belt Branch located at 10851 Scarsdale Blvd., Suite 102 in Houston; Constable Christopher Diaz’s Office located at 101 S. Richey, Suite C in Pasadena; and Bank of Texas - West University located at 5500 Kirby in Houston.
Monetary donations can also be made to the San Jacinto College South Cosmetology Club, Attn: Dana Belt - SkillsUSA Sponsor, 13735 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089.
