Hold ‘Em & Hit ‘Em Club continues to support San Jacinto College student scholarships

06.19.2015 | By Andrea Vasquez

Longtime San Jacinto College supporter, the Hold ‘Em & Hit ‘Em Club (HHC), recently added to its total giving with a $7,500 check presented to the San Jacinto College Foundation.

HHC supports education and youth charities by giving to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo through purchasing at the School Art Auction; and through the Calf Scramble by donating calves, Hard Luck calves, and Mystery Calf donations. As a top tier donor to the San Jacinto College Foundation since 2000, the Club has given $172,700 in scholarships for San Jacinto College students. Since 1992, HHC has contributed close to $900,000 dollars to charitable and educational institutions to support the youth of Texas.

“HHC understands the need for financial help for students that have the qualifications and the desire, but not necessarily the funds, to further their education,” said Russell Jones, HCC Secretary and Scholarship Chairman. “The students that have participated in and spoken at our annual banquet have demonstrated that these contributions are accomplishing the goals of HHC.  We are proud to be associated with the Foundation and the people there that share our views.”

San Jacinto College Foundation Executive Director, Ruth Keenan, adds that without the support of HCC, many students wouldn’t be able to continue their education. “We deeply appreciate our partnership with the Hold Em & Hit Em Club,” she said. “The support from the Club continues to transform the lives of our students, their families, and our community. Its work in our community is legendary, the support of its members is selfless, and its efforts quiet but loudly impactful. Our students comment repeatedly that with this support, and their hard work, dreams come true.”
