Courses available to increase skill set for health care professionals

San Jacinto College offers a variety of noncredit health occupations courses for anyone interested in gaining skills and certifications to increase career opportunities.
Courses starting this Spring include Sterile Compounding and IV Certification, available Feb. 27, 28 and March 7 at the San Jacinto College South Campus; Leadership in Health Care- Middle Manager, scheduled from March 30 to May 21 at the South Campus; and Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician Training, scheduled from Feb. 6 to May 15 or March 26 to May 21 at the Central Campus.
The Sterile Compounding and IV Certification course offers 16 hours of self study and is designed to train pharmacy technicians and pharmacists on the topic of sterile product preparation and aseptic technique, including USP. Most health-system pharmacy settings require IV certification and/or prior experience for employment consideration.
The Leadership in Health Care-Middle Manager course is designed for mid-level leaders and teaches leaders how to utilize competency assessment tools, discuss the cycles of leadership development, and analyze and compare the four models of leadership.
The EKG Technician Training course teaches the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and the role of the electrocardiograph in patient assessment. The class prepares participants to take the American Certification agency for Health Care Professionals Certification Exam for ECG Technician.
About the Continuing and Professional Development division
This noncredit division of the College provides training for both current and future employees in the professional and technical job sectors, as well as provides participants with open enrollment course options to enhance their lives.
