Women’s basketball announces 2014-2015 schedule

HOUSTON – The 2014-2015 San Jacinto College women’s basketball schedule is out, and features 14 home games at Nichols Gymnasium on the North Campus.

This year’s schedule includes the San Jac Classic on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, when San Jacinto College will welcome Cisco College, Southwest Christian College, LSU-Eunice, and defending national champion Trinity Valley Community College. On Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will also be a free coaches clinic.

“I’m pleased to be able to bring a first class coaches clinic to San Jacinto College,” said second-year Head Coach Brenita Jackson. “The clinic is open to coaches at all levels, and will feature a lineup of guest speakers from McNeese State University, University of North Texas, Tyler Junior College, Equip Sports, KBJ Academy, and North Shore High School.” The clinic is free for all coaches, but space is limited and a RSVP is required. Coaches that are interested in attending are asked to send an email to Coach Jackson at brenita.williams@sjcd.edu.

Other home games include McLennan Community College on Tuesday, Nov. 4, which will also be Veterans Night; and conference games against Trinity Valley Community College (Dec. 3), Blinn College (Dec. 10), Tyler Junior College (Dec. 13), Paris Junior College (Jan. 10), Coastal Bend Community College (Jan. 17), Panola College (Jan. 31), Jacksonville College (Feb. 11 – Play4Kay game), Bossier Parish Community College (Feb. 18 – Jam the Gym), Kilgore College (Feb. 21), and Angelina College (Feb. 28 – Sophomore Night).

The 2014-2015 San Jacinto College roster includes eight freshmen, five returning players, and three transfers. All games are free and open to the public. Nichols Gymnasium is on the San Jacinto College North Campus, located at 5800 Uvalde Road in Houston.
