Student veteran recognized at annual student award ceremony

The San Jacinto College South Campus recently held its annual student awards ceremony, at which Johanna Hunter was widely recognized.

Hunter, an Air Force veteran, received the award for Outstanding Student Organization Leader as president of the Student Veteran Association; Outstanding Student Employee of the Year as a veteran’s center work/study employee; and the Outstanding Student Veteran Award.

“The South Campus Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success Center is very proud of Johanna’s stellar recognition at the 2015 Student Awards Ceremony,” said Eugene Bernard, South Campus veteran success coordinator. Hunter has also coordinated energy industry guest speakers to come talk about workforce opportunities available to veterans, campus donation drives for toiletries and other basic necessities for VA-Inpatients, and is also an Honors Ambassador for the San Jacinto College Honors program.
