Booren -- February 20, 2014   HOUSTON – Karri Smith has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV Pitcher of the Week. Smith, a sophomore from Alvin (Alvin HS), went 2-0 last week, with seven strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA. On the week, San Jacinto College (14-5) went 4-1 at the San Jac Tournament, with three wins over No. 12 Iowa Western Community College, and a split with top-ranked Wallace State Community College-Hanceville. Up next for San Jac is the Temple College Tournament this weekend in Temple, Texas. San Jac returns home on Friday, March 7 for a double header against Lamar State – Port Arthur.
