San Jacinto College campuses celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

09.11.2014 | By Jeannie Peng-Armao

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, San Jacinto College will host a variety of events across all three campuses for students and community members.

Each year, National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of people whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The day of Sept. 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is Oct. 12, falls within this 30-day period.

The following is a list of events scheduled, to date, at the San Jacinto College North, South, and Central Campuses. Please visit for updates.
