LUFKIN, Texas – Heavy hearts left the field as San Jacinto College was eliminated by a final score of 1-0 against Paris Junior College at the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Softball Region XIV Tournament, played over the weekend at Angelina College in Lufkin.

San Jac’s defense held strong throughout the game, however Paris managed to score a run in the third inning, which proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

San Jac’s sophomore utility player Elizabeth Garcia went two for three with a stolen base. Freshman catcher Gabriela Gonzalez went one for three, freshman infielder Jasmine Cerda went one for two, and sophomore pitcher Bridget Stein allowed five hits and no earned runs.

“We played well but didn’t string our hits together to get the runs we needed,” said Kelly Saenz, San Jacinto College softball head coach.
