Rodriguez named NJCAA softball national tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player

HOUSTON – San Jacinto College sophomore infielder Jessie Rodriguez earned national recognition at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I national tournament last week.

Rodriguez (Baytown / Barbers Hill HS) was the tournament’s most outstanding offensive player and earned the Marucci Elite Hitter Award. In four games at the national tournament in St. George, Utah, Rodriguez went six for 10 with two doubles, three runs, and one RBI, hitting .600.

San Jac (41-24) finished fifth at the 2014 NJCAA Division I softball national championship. This was the second trip in school history to the NJCAA national tournament for San Jacinto College, and the sixth 40-plus win season for Hall of Fame Head Coach Kelly Saenz.
