Low-cost pet vaccinations coming to San Jacinto College: Ninth annual World Rabies Day pet vaccination event set for Sept. 24

The San Jacinto College South Campus natural sciences department will host its ninth annual World Rabies Day event, offering low-cost pet vaccinations, on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

San Jacinto College biology professor and Texas-licensed veterinarian Dr. Adam Eiler, along with Dr. Susan Pickle of the Alvin-Friendswood Veterinary Clinic, will provide several vaccinations for dogs and cats at a reduced rate to the community. All proceeds from the vaccinations purchased will benefit local animal rescue and rehabilitation facilities.

Available vaccinations for dogs include: rabies, $10; distemper/parvo, $15; bordetella, $15; leptospirosis, $25; and rattlesnake, $25. Available vaccinations for cats include: rabies, $10; distemper (FVRCP), $15; and leukemia, $15. No additional veterinary services will be offered. Cash only accepted.

In addition to the low-cost vaccinations, the San Jacinto College South Campus Science Club will also be on-site volunteering and fundraising with popcorn, snow cones, refreshments, pet treats and “Pictures with Your Pet” available for purchase.

The World Rabies Day pet vaccination event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Jacinto College South Campus in the Academic Wing - North (building 7) in rooms S7.124 and S7.128. Owners need to check-in their pets at the registration desk located in the P6 parking lot, directly outside the vaccination rooms. All pets are required to be in carriers or on a leash. The South Campus is located at 13735 Beamer Rd., in Houston.
