Grambling State University welcomes San Jacinto College students: College signs transfer agreement with Louisiana institution

PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College recently signed an articulation agreement with Grambling State University at the College’s January board of trustees meeting.

The agreement allows San Jacinto College students who complete an Associate of Arts, an Associate of Arts in Teaching, an Associate of Science or an Associate of Science in Engineering Science with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater guaranteed admission to Grambling State University. A maximum of 66 semester credit hours earned at San Jacinto College with a grade of C or better will be accepted and applied to a designated/appropriate Grambling State University degree plan.

“This is an opportunity for our students to transfer to a recognized four-year institution and pursue degrees in either business, computer science or criminal justice,” said Dr. Catherine O’Brien, San Jacinto College associate vice chancellor for learning.

This articulation agreement is the newest edition to the list of numerous transfer agreements the College has established with four-year universities including Baylor University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, Texas Women’s University, University of Houston and University of Texas Medical Branch. Articulation agreements, also known as transfer agreements, allow students to seamlessly transfer completed course credit hours that will apply toward a partnering university’s bachelor degree requirements. Transfering to a four-year institution under an articulation agreement helps students to be able to start their junior and senior-level university courses upon entering on their first semester.

“We are extremely pleased to establish this agreement with San Jacinto College” said Dr. Damon Wade, Grambling State University vice president for institutional effectiveness and enrollment management. “This means increased access and opportunity for San Jacinto College students and clearly defined educational pathways to their success. Both institutions share a common vision and values, and we feel this agreement provides an excellent opportunity for students as they plan their baccalaureate degree at the beginning of their college education. We look forward to furthering our relationship and welcoming students who will be proud alumni of both institutions.”
