Desparate college thespians roll the dice

San Jacinto College’s comedy “Just Add Zombies” kicks off the Halloween season with zany and eerie adventures.

The G-rated show will be staged at the Central Campus Jerry Powell Arena Theatre (Building 13) on Oct. 19, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. There will be a special Oct. 31 performance at 11:59 p.m. General admission is $10 per person at the door, with a discount price of $8 per person for all who purchase tickets by Oct. 18. The box office phone number is 281-476-1828.

In the show, the parents of a college drama troupe pretend to be dead to avoid their kids’ shows and their faculty sponsor flees with specific instructions, “Don’t try to find me.” In a last-ditch effort to save their star-crossed production of “Romeo and Juliet” and indeed their program, the desperate thespians roll the dice and gamble that a zombie cast member or two will put people in the seats. But will their hungry new actors forever change the meaning of “live theatre?”
