10.23.2014 | By Rob Vanya
The San Jacinto College Central Campus’ theatre and film department will hold open public auditions for adults and children to be cast in the 11th annual holiday production “Santa’s Christmas Magic: The Musical.”
The production is a holiday tradition for many families, both for the viewing audiences, and for community families in the production itself. For 11 years, children have been returning to appear in the fast-paced holiday favorite.
Auditions for adults and young people 12 and older will be held Sunday, Nov. 2 and Monday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. Auditions for the children’s chorus (ages 4 to 11) will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, and Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. All auditions will be held in the Powell Arena Theatre on the Central Campus, located at 8060 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena.
The auditions are open for anyone in the community and enrollment at San Jacinto College is not required. “Anyone interested in acting, those who have little or no experience, or those who are seasoned professionals, may audition for the show,” commented Dr. Jerry Ivins, Central Campus theatre and film department chair. “There is even an entire elf chorus of children ages 4 and up that will be cast in late November. All are encouraged to come out and audition for this increasingly popular event.”
“Santa’s Christmas Magic: The Musical” is a fantasy about a sinister plot to steal Santa’s magic. The cast includes 120 male and female actors, singers and dancers from ages 4 to adult.
Rehearsals for adults and young people will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Rehearsals for children will begin on Sunday, Nov. 30. Rehearsals take place Monday through Friday until the show opens on Dec. 4. For more information about the rehearsals or the play, please call 281-542-2039, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
