12 students selected for College’s first energy career preparation program

HOUSTON – Twelve students have been selected to be a part of San Jacinto College’s first Energy Education and Career Corps (EECC), a career preparation program made possible by a grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

The $20,000 workforce development and education grant will fund paid internships for students pursuing energy-related careers. The 300-hour internships will serve as the capstone course required for completion of an associate degree in the participating programs, which this year include accounting, business management, business office technology, computer information technology, engineering design graphics, and process technology. Additionally, student participants will benefit from financial literacy training provided by Bank of America, attend workshops on career skills and professionalism in the workplace, and be given energy industry updates from are industry leaders. Local industry partners facilitating this year’s internships are Tellepsen Engineering in Pasadena, Specialty Tank Services in La Porte, and FMC Technologies in Houston.
